The authors of Fake News imagine the continuation of their first novel in a slippery slope scenario that’s entirely believable!
It is 2025 and France has tried everything: several different leaders from the left and right, and even a young president from the center. It is 2025 and France has tried everything: several different leaders from the left and right, and even a young president from the center. But successive failures and the chaos running rampant in the streets and the very heart of the political system has driven France to make a radical, unprecedented choice. Charlotte Despenoux, the young leader of the FF (France First) party, has been elected President of France.

At first allied with the far left, Despenoux uses the pretext of the murder of one of her closest collaborators to bring about a new round of elections in which she usurps all power. The authoritarian regime institutes a tenacious repression of the remaining opposition. Political parties, unions, and organizations are banned or stifled by the suppression led by State aids, a muzzled press, and widespread arrests…

This second novel from Michèle Cotta and Robert Namias describes three dark years (2025-2028) of a France that, to put it simply, tumbles into fascism. Written in the style of a political thriller, in which attacks disguised as minor crimes cover up the perpetrators’ tracks until the final conclusion, 2025 is the story of a France that has lost its bearings to the point of confirming in the worst way imaginable that “impossible isn’t French.”
