In 1937, while Alberto Giacometti is in the hospital after a car accident, Jean-Paul Sartre is spreading news about him all around Paris: “Something FINALLY happened to him.”
This provocative barb comes at the time when the two men are still rising stars who have not yet achieved fame.
The nasty trick reaches Alberto’s ears. From that point, the sculptor only has one thing on his mind: smashing Jean-Paul’s face in!
He’ll have to get his hands on him once more, in this Paris teeming with attractions and vanities, where acquaintances and lovers stream forth like shooting stars.
One evening, Alberto learns that Sartre is dining at Mauriac’s. Without a moment’s hesitation, he crosses the Seine, set on capturing his prey outside the writer’s abode. But on his way, another battle calls. A meeting. A young woman. In peril. A woman he won’t stop wanting to see again, in this Paris readying itself for the storm and the great defeat of June 1940.
And all this before he fortuitously meets Jean-Paul once more and everything comes full circle.
