A Deaf Anger

Release date : 01/10/2020
A political intrigue about the corruption of the “elite” against the backdrop of a populist revolt is the explosive cocktail of this dystopian work marked with a healthy dose of anger.

In a city with a retro-futuristic ambiance, anger is brewing. The general climate of insurrection is worrying the authorities, who are planning a violent repression. Inspector Andrieux, a thorough civil servant brainwashed by the authoritarian police, finds himself suddenly thrown headfirst into the closed circle of those who direct the State of Finance. On the order of Senator Jules de Clérivoit, Andrieux tries to bring together the elements likely to compromise Mr. Cartera, a banker who secretly reveals his actions in advance to the government. Chasing this phantom, Andrieux discovers a social milieu of which he was entirely unaware that completely surpasses him. Through his back and forth between the working class in which he was raised and the corrupt, sheltered ruling class, he gradually forms his own moral conscience, which becomes a political one, making blind obedience difficult. But taking ahold of freedom will cost him his life.
In this social commentary, a mirror that just barely magnifies our current times, Arthur Nesnidal imagines a society on the edge of collapse, divided between a crushed people ready to rise up and a godless, lawless political class. A virtuosic critique of the modern era.
