“If nobody around me dies after a certain amount of time passes, I start to worry.”

Daniel Fohr set for himself the difficult challenge of promising a death on every page. And he delivers in this delicious romp where anyone and anything that crosses our narrator’s path risks death. The fatal car crash of the man our narrator’s girlfriend just dumped him for starts the ball rolling, and the deaths steamroll from there, popping up at the most unexpected moments. For example, while our narrator is on the phone with an ex-girlfriend from high school her jealous boyfriend kills her, or while at the gym he sees a man pummeled to death by an overpowering barbell. And just in case you miss some of the more subtle deaths that are referenced, an answer key can be found at the end.

“With humor and a bit of playful cunning, this ad exec has fun parodying the formula for a detective novel. This is a writer to watch very closely.”
