Whimsical and a little magical, Oopelaoop lives in a camper at the edge of a forest. Once she arrives, Alcie finds the landscape to be nothing like she imagined: the fish have deserted the lake, the birds have packed up and left, and scary noises are coming from deep within the forest…

Faced with this desolate sight, Alcie becomes very sad. One evening, sitting on the edge of her bed, she lets out a big sigh, then another, then another. All of a sudden, to her surprise, her sighs turn into a cloudlike material, like a quilt made of fog, that gradually becomes little ghosts. Ghosts of sadness that Alcie immediately befriends. As if, in life, you need to know how to give your sadness a hand.

Together, they will meet a lonely boy named Hugo, discover an upside-down castle, marvel at a giant aquarium, eat vanilla seashells… And above all, learn why the forest is suffering: Hugo’s dad, a rich manufacturer, got it into his head to cut down all the trees and build a golf course for billionaires. Alcie, Hugo, and the ghosts of sadness will use all their ingenuity to fight this destructive madness.
