Arthur Chevillard is a biologist who specializes in fish. He fled France and his wife for an imaginary African country, Konghia. He was assigned there on a humanitarian mission by Motal, a multinational corporation. The idea was to bring in a species of fish from the Amazon—the arapaima, the largest freshwater fish—to serve as a food source in the local river. Needless to say, nothing goes as planned for our dear Arthur and his local acolytes—including a president living in an unfinished tower, a group of insufferable white Rastas playing the djembe, an Amazon Indian with a Cartesian bent, militiamen out of a Marguerite Duras novel… and it all turns into a nightmare with the arrival of Morgane, Arthur’s crazy ex, who comes to make his life into a tropical hell!
