Maema is a journalist, Lillith is a photographer. Both work for the Tahitian newspaper La Dépêche. Their specialty? Taking on injustice and corrupt officials in their native Tahiti.
One day, while lounging on the beach, the two women are alerted by the sound of broken tableware. Rushing inside, they surprise not a burglar, but a young boy of 10 who is bleeding from his left wrist. The two start to ask around in their neighborhood – someone surely must recognize the child and know where he belongs…
Soon, the child leads the two women to a favela in the jungle. On site, they stumble upon a horrible sight: under a tarp, they discover the naked corpses of a man and a woman, lying on the ground, throats cut, lacerated, exsanguinated, covered in swarms of flies. With this terrible discovery starts an inquiry into the Polynesian underbelly where leprosy, drug traffic and crystal meth labs abound.
This third rendezvous with feisty sleuths Maema and Lilith shows once more a Tahiti against and beyond all clichés. Armed only with a camera, a mind as sharp as a spear gun and an ancestral knowledge of all things Polynesian, the two vahines track down the acolytes of death and hold them accountable for their crimes.
