Clarissa, a bilingual writer, suddenly leaves her husband of twenty years following an overwhelming discovery. In her rush to find a new apartment, she applies for a highly coveted spot in an artists’ residence in a new property named CASA. To her surprise, Clarissa is accepted and she moves into a spacious studio on the eighth floor of a modern building, which is located in the middle of a neighborhood in the process of renewal after the devastating terrorist attack on the capital. But Clarissa soon feels a vague malaise, as though she is being constantly watched. Her nights are troubled by strange dreams that mix with reality. The apartment’s virtual assistant, named Mrs. Dalloway after Clarissa’s love for Virginia Woolf, seems to be meddling with her private life with unsettling insistence and perceptiveness. Trauma from Clarissa’s past comes back to the surface, especially the tragic disappearance of her firstborn child.
Weakened by the secret that made her marriage implode and tormented by her growing doubt, Clarissa wonders: who is behind the CASA organization? And what does this “benefactor” really want? What links her to the other artists in the residence? What are the real intentions of Dr. Dewinter, the head of the CASA program? Encouraged and supported by her teenage granddaughter, Clarissa tries to untangle these questions. Her daughter Jordan is worried she will sink into depression again, but Clarissa thinks she has found the real reasons behind the CASA project. Is she right? Or is she a victim of her own paranoia, the product of her imagination and oversensitivity?
