In this powerfully moving first novel, Loulou, 10, has a strained relationship with her father.

Her disappointment in him and conviction that he doesn't love her creates a need to believe that her father is someone else entirely. So she chooses the President of France to be her imaginary dad. But of course her father does love her, he just doesn't communicate well, especially since he divorced her mother.

All of that will change when Loulou is hospitalized with a sudden paralysis. While her father is distraught to see his little girl suffer, he still can't manage to express his emotions. Until he finds her diary and sees that he has been replaced by another man.

This is what will motivate him to write an emotional letter in which he opens up to his daughter like never before.
