Sami is only five years old when he and his family have to flee from their homeland Afghanistan scourged by the Taliban. Embarking on an odyssey that will lead them to Iran and on to France, they cross borders and mountains under horrific conditions, at the risk of their lives. Throughout this harrowing journey, Sami never leaves his sewing machine, the tool that had secured their income in Afghanistan and that his father had taught him his craft on.
After arriving in Tours all by himself, living on his own and not speaking a word of French, Sami stores his sewing machine under the bed – until the day his talent is discovered and he and his sewing machine embark on another journey which, due to his incredible persistence, eventually leads him to the biggest fashion houses in the world.
