What will be the consequences of the Ukraine war for the world of tomorrow?

These words, uttered by famous Italian Marxist philosopher and linguist Gramsci in the 1930s apply perfectly to the present state of our world: The causes for the return of a high intensity war in the heart of Europe are not solely to be attributed to one power hungry madman in the Kremlin. And its effects, the flood of destruction and unspeakable horrors, as well as its economical challenges reach far beyond the unfortunate nation state of Ukraine. What we are witnessing right now is the clash of two worlds with the Russian and Chinese totalitarian regimes trying to un-occidentalize our planet. The UN votes on the Ukrainian issue crystallize these fracture lines along with the emergence of a new ideological block: China and Russia, who both pretend to resolutely fight against what they call the “falsification of history” and who claim to be the only “true democracies” in the world, both advocate for an alternative model of governance where force trumps law, where the subjugated collective replaces creative collaboration, tribalization the universal, and where brain washing forces out the free conscience. Yet this model has seduced many and for a long time.
Today’s war is not a world war but it is already a globalized war in the sense that the whole world is feeling the shock wave of the Ukrainian conflict. The war of two worlds has started and we have to revise our geopolitical grammar as well as to rearm ourselves militarily, mentally and economically all the while counting and regrouping our allies.
