His giant wings are keeping him from creating…

The French literary heavyweight has won everything: the Prix Goncourt, the Légion d’Honneur, and worldwide critical recognition. So what now? What a question. Michel has lost a great deal of sleep over it.

Out of ideas and seeking a new path, Michel tries new forms of writing. He starts penning corny little love stories and inspiring tales of personal growth. For the first time, his editor and agent refuse his manuscripts!

Everyone—especially the financiers of the publishing world—keeps telling him he absolutely must go back to writing about his ugly world of despair. He needs to find some inspiration again! The survival of the literary world is at stake.

So, as a form of rehab, Michel assumes a secret identity and moves to a "new rural" village in the heart of the French countryside. His mission is to write a novel titled The Diagonal of the Void.

But it all comes crashing down. As soon as he gets there, Michel meets some charming faces and, thanks to the melatonin treatment he’s been prescribed, he’s sleeping better and better. All he needs is to fall in love with Marilyn, the village hairdresser in her puffy jogging suit… Michel starts to tell himself that writing isn’t worth anything. That it doesn’t hold the keys to happiness… This only makes François Davidson, Michel’s agent, rush over on the double to talk some sense into him: "Come on Michel, don’t be an idiot!"
