Catherine soon finds herself among equals, a sort of second family, in the company of Michèle Cotta—still one of her best friends—along with Claude Imbert and Georges Suffert. She shares their unparalleled journalistic effervescence. The figure of Françoise Giroud dominates these years, as Catherine reveals unexpected facets of her personality. Françoise serves as a model for Catherine, both an observer of the morals her time and as an independent woman of character.

Catherine Nay strictly obeyed this same desire to prioritize her personal choices and her professional life. She had neither a spouse nor children, only her passion for her career. However, this didn’t keep her from sharing her life with one of the greatest figures of France’s Fifth Republic, Albin Chalandon, from the moment they first met in 1968.
