What could possibly cause a 40-year old woman who has just been cheated on by her husband, a teenage girl whose life depends on passing the baccalauréat exam, a man out walking his dog, and another man with a cancelled appointment to find themselves bound to each other by a promise made one early spring morning in Paris’s Parc de Buttes-Chaumont?

Although none of them know each other and they share little in common, these four—Aude, Charlene, Alexandre, and Nicolas—will become inseparable.

Charlene has had it. Her father, Jerome, isn’t listening to her: she is an excellent student and a well-behaved girl. But she can’t take it anymore. In the run-up to her exams, she cracks under the pressure. Her father, a former   champion race car driver, has been raising her on his own for as long as she can remember. But now, on the cusp of her adult life, Charlene wants the truth. Why doesn’t she know who her mother is? Why did she disappear right after Charlene was born? With no explanation from her father, Charlene decides to do something drastic. Early one morning, she heads to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont right by her house, climbs over the big bridge, and leans out into the emptiness…

At that moment Aude, Alexandre, and Nicolas converge where she is, all urging her not to jump. Charlene agrees on one condition: that these three strangers promise to help her find her mother! This promise, uniting them from that point forward, will lead to all kinds of unexpected adventures…
