"Valérie Sigward is an expert with brief, efficiently told stories...as usual, she doesn't make one false move".  -- Le Monde

The Runaway portrays the aftermath of a suicide told through the eyes of the adolescent brother left behind. Theo's older brother Alex killed himself, leaving those behind with the pain of mourning, and perhaps even more cruelly, the pain of incomprehension. There was no note to serve as an explanation. It's a year later and Theo is tired of the constant gloom that hovers over his home. After a short-lived attempt to runaway to Paris, Theo takes a detour to Alex's former girlfriend's house. His flight has turned into a wake for his brother, during which four adolescents are finally reunited to share their grief with tears and laughter. Together, they decide to write the suicide letter Alex never did in order to give Theo's parents the closure they haven't found.
