In this work, which has the feel of a poetic memoir, Jean-Luc Marty retraces the voyage he took to the most intimate part of his being. He goes to that place where heartbeats form and the body’s movement begins.

Having lived in Lorient for a long time, Marty always felt close to its port-centric universe. People went to the port with its piers to look out at sea, ready to leave or to welcome. In the past, one had to leave in order to meet others. Today, they are here, among us, numerous and singular.

We can affront them, fight them, banish them or make an attempt at an opening, curiosity, an exchange. The two movements – war and dance – are possible.

Jean-Luc Marty has chosen. He says it, writes it, sings it in his inspired texts. He expresses his profound and carnal knowledge of the extraordinary and magnificent diversity of beings and peoples.
