Waking up I smash the screen of my smartphone, it’s not even seven years of bad luck, just 24 hours, but that’s largely sufficient to finish you right off. Game over. I’d like to do something, right here and there, redistribute and throw all the thousand tiny pieces of my life up in the air, letting them fall into a new pattern – everything would be better than this chaos.”
San Francisco. A young “Frenchy” gets fired via Google Box and ends up on the street walking “his” dogs – or rather other people’s dogs he walks for a living. Being a dog-walker is far from being his calling. But he who had dreamed of hitting it big time in Silicon Valley with an idea for an app that would bring him loads of doe, suddenly got fired by his employer, the startup Puluuluk, and had to come up with a plan B. The reader embarks with him on a 24 hour-long odyssey along with his posse of doggies, witnessing how he is trying, to the rhythm of the dinging messages on his broken phone, to find 1. a roof over his head for the night, 2. a new chick, 3. a maximum of followers for his new account @vertidog, where the pictures of Inari, a bitch suffering from depression and vaguely resembling a Hitchcock blonde, are getting thousands of likes. During this time, the wild fires are devouring Paradise and are getting dangerously close to San Francisco… Suddenly, Inari disappears. The start of an apocalyptic quest…

A truculent and cynical debut that offers a trip to San Francisco along with an uncompromisingly critical take on our hyper connected present-day society.

Key points:
An original literary debut in an innovatively American tone
Written in the same spirit as the successful novel My stupid Dog (Mon chien stupide) by John Fante.
