Born in 1985, Maylis Adhémar grew up in a little village in the department of Tarn in southern France alongside her three sisters. After completing a baccalauréat exam in agriculture, she gave up life as a butcher to study history. She has taught French in China, camped in Patagonia, and interned with several publishing houses. Since 2010, she has lived in Toulouse where she works as a freelance journalist. She also conducts beginning workshops in journalism for young people in rural areas.
