Bruno Dellinger is one of the survivors of the World Trade Center attack, the 11th September. Bruno is representative for the go getting part of New York society. In his late 30's, he establishes his own company, a communication and media agency and takes an office on the 50th floor of the W.T.C.. The business is going well, he invests in young talented artists whom he exhibits in his office space. On the 11th September he is at his desk, like every day and all of his colleague, starting the day, checking e-mails. We all know what happened after that, but we have very few occasion to learn what went through people's minds as they are caught in the towers : it wasn't just the immediate panic, the rush down the stairs, no, as Bruno describes, they didn't take the first attack seriously, they ignored it. On the second, they even bothered to save data, to arrange and lock the office. Half down the fire escape, Bruno almost decides to go back up again, in order to help the fire men. All in all, a long period of split seconds confused decision making until he finally and safely reaches the ground. The aftermath is even worse: the shock, the depression, no business, no history and the long and slow way trying to find energy to rebuild one's life.A superbly sensitive and honest portrait, only words can describe.
