The fates of Elisa, Audrey, and Lilly overlap between past and present from the 1930s to 2010. Not only are they related by blood, but they also share a similar enthusiasm for flying as a job.
The first one, Élisa, who resides in Étretat, started working as an air convoyer prior to the war. The young woman, who mostly travels to Africa to accompany expatriates, oversees sick passengers on uncomfortable aircraft. After World War II, Elisa was tasked with returning deportees to France, which was a very challenging moment for her and her co-workers as they learned about the horrors of the camps. Up until her death in an aircraft accident, Élisa had a close relationship with Alex, an English photographer with whom she experienced a passionate love story throughout her layovers. Elisa married a German she met in Étretat under the Occupation when her lover vanished during the Indochina War. Her daughter Audrey and subsequently her granddaughter Lilly, both flight attendants (the first in the 1970s and the second in the 2000s), will work to unearth the truth about this romance with Alex.
To find out, they’ll have to fly to Congo.
