This dazzling story told as purely and poetically as a tale, retraces the life of Haïm Lipsky, a Polish Jew born into a poor working-class family in Lodz, 1922. Becoming a violinist by the force of his own desire, he was saved firstly from the ghetto and then from the hell of the concentration camps, thanks to his music. On his release from Auschwitz, Haïm abandoned the Polish language and his music which was his passion, vocation and means of survival. From then on he spoke only two languages; Yiddish and silence. Nonetheless, in memory of his music, Haïm passed on his passion. Today, aged 92, he speaks Hebrew and nearly all his children and grandchildren have become international musicians.
