This book relates the travels in Africa of a twenty-year-old man from Brussels. When he arrives in Oran nothing goes as planned and the Algerian authorities expel him towards the South without any means. The Africa he encounters is totally different to that of tourist guides and humanitarians. In Bamako he is adopted by a family. He becomes their white son and, with the passage of time, discovers and learns to love daily life in a Malian concession. Back in Brussels he talks to no-one about his Malian adoptive family.
