Jean-Claude and Basile have been friends for 10 years. Basile is a writer, Jean-Claude is married to one of the Nobel Prize jurors and is an important figure of the Swedish cultural scene.
But one day, a scandal breaks: 18 women accuse Jean-Claude of sexual aggression. The affair turns into a maelstrom that engulfs everyone on his passage. Numerous personalities, even the king, who is close to Jean-Claude, are implicated in the affair. For the first time in its history, the Nobel Prize has to postpone the awarding ceremony.
Jean-Claude is sentenced to two years in prison but continues to claim his innocence – as does also his wife, Katarina. But whom to believe in this affair? Where are the limits between certitude and doubt? Basile takes up his own investigation, trying to find out the truth about the person he thought he knew so well.

Key points
The imprint “Confessions” is dedicated to publishing works of authors that draw on their innermost feelings to narrate a defining episode or a crucial event that has turned out to be the tipping point of their lives. Taking the example of Saint Augustine’s Confessions that retell his journey up until his conversion in a sublime language and with total honesty, we comprehend the notion of confession not as a testimony but as an unfiltered acknowledgement of our most intimate and inalterable essence. Writing is an exercise in humility, not in egotism, and demands the courage to strip away all our masks and lay bare our souls through the grace of words.  (Thibault de Montaigu)
The first novel on the infamous couple Jean-Claude Arnault and Katarina Forstenson who brought down the Nobel Prize for Literature
