The fascinating itinerary of a man who decides to leave the western civilization to face challenges in the society of the Polynesian island Tureia.

Chretien is journalist for the French television and covers the events of May 68. Disillusioned with the television refusal to publish his images, he decides to go into exile to the island of Tureia. He soon discovers that the population there is reputed of being cannibals and is governed by a tyrant. This reveals itself to be a myth. However other challenges await him, such as the devastating consequences of the nuclear tests on the neighbouring island and the looting of the oyster perls, the sole source of wealth.

Coping with these issues and others, Chretien will manage to integrate the community and become the “Lord of the Atoll”.
