“Publication is the salvation of the public”
This work is based on this sentence. One that has been lost.

The sentence was pronounced on August 13 1789 by Jean-Sylvain Bailly, whose name has fallen into oblivion. At the time he was a celebrity, a scholar and mayor of the Commune de Paris. His statement emphasized that everything that is of public interest should be made public: everything that concerns the fate of the people, everything that is done in their name, everything that falls within their will.
Over two centuries after Bailly’s statement, Edwy Plenel illustrates the still revolutionary weight of this democratic proclamation, at a time when current debates focus on investigative journalism and whistleblowers.
Through the revival of the sentence, the author expresses its topicality.
