Upon opening the newspaper, Georgette comes across the news
of her friend’s Justine disappearance. A passionate historian

abbey, birthplace to Belgium’s foremost “blonde” beer. Despite
her husband’s initial resistance as a fervent anti-clerical, the prospect
of conducting an inquiry with a beer in hand quickly... Upon opening the newspaper, Georgette comes across the news
of her friend’s Justine disappearance. A passionate historian
Justine had been conducting her research at the famous Leffe
abbey, birthplace to Belgium’s foremost “blonde” beer. Despite
her husband’s initial resistance as a fervent anti-clerical, the prospect
of conducting an inquiry with a beer in hand quickly wins
him over. After arriving at the abbey, the couple and their dog
Loulou meet saucy canon Jean Baptiste, who loves Jesus as well
as he loves his beer and delights in chanting ribald drinking
songs. They follow him to his headquarters, the Confessional, a
bistro across the street from the abbey, where they learn that,
prior to her disappearing, Justine had supposedly discovered a
mysterious parchment containing not only the original formula
of the Leffe beer but the secret of eternal life. Thus kicks off a
succession of murders, with heads rolling from the canons to the
cook, and a series of Russian doll mysteries.
