The residence is to be pulled down to make way for a complex of villas with an exquisite view over Arcachon Bay. Appalled and in a panic, Charlotte seeks advice from an architects’ firm in Bordeaux. Iris, one of the two architects, makes the journey to Cap Ferret to meet Charlotte and her family. Still suffering the effects of a recent miscarriage, Iris is in the process of getting divorced. She falls under the charm of the Maison du Cap and of its inhabitants, but meanwhile learns of the death in Spain of her only relative, her Aunt Anna. It turns out that her aunt’s story was a tragic one, and the young woman decides to delve into the past and to form a united front with Charlotte in her battle.
