Saint-Étienne, 1888. The young Alexandrine works in the passementerie trade, a profession that she does not really care for, and her only form of entertainment is going to the Sunday fair.

But after meeting Marin, the owner of the Bois Noirs inn, her prospects in life start looking up and he becomes her husband. For better, because in this renowned inn, which attracts the local bourgeoisie as well as the first tourists to start visiting Mont Pilat, Alexandrine delights in learning how to cook and picking up all the little tricks of the kitchen. It turns out to be a genuine passion, which is actively nurtured by Marin’s grandmother.

La Roche au Loup (Wolf Rock), in the heart of the Saint-Étienne countryside where she can finally make her dream come true…
