After The Canaan Trilogy (500,000 copies sold) and Mary of Nazareth (120,000 copies sold), Marek Halter brings us the story of another prestigious heroine from the Bible - the Queen of Sheba. In doing so, he places an extraordinary mythical character in a real geo-political setting.

Queen of Sheba is the story of an exceptional woman of not only mythical beauty but of extreme intelligence, honor, pride and stength. While she may be more commonly known for her love affair with King Solomon as depicted in the Bible, Marek Halter offers a more complete telling of her incredible life. Her widowered father, Akebo, the King of Sheba, is forced to flee his kingdom out of honor before his enemies dethrone him in a bloody battle. His 6-year-old daughter, Makeda, is somewhat shamed by her father's decision. She is also greatly disappointed that they must flee just before they have the chance to consecrate a temple in her mother's honor.

Akebo and his men settle across the Red Sea where he will continue to rule over his portion of Sheba. Makeda vows to seek revenge against her father's enemies, led by the cunning Shobwa. Years later, as a young woman, she will seize her opprtunity with great valor. After her father is murdered, Makeda's spies reveal that their enemies have set sail across the sea to finish them once and for all. She, however, has other plans in store for Shobwa and his men. The Queen of Sheba creates a masterful battle plan that will destroy her enemy's fleet even though she and her men are greatly outnumbered.

Now that vengeance is hers, she and her people return to the land she fled as a young girl and she assumes her place as the queen of a reunited Sheba. This is when she hears about the wise King Solomon of Israel. She seemingly falls in love with the image of this great man about whom she learns much through his legends. Makeda travels to Jerusalem to visit Solomon for political reasons; her wish is that Israel and Sheba becoming trading partners to bypass the oppressive Pharaoh. But when two great leaders like Solomon and Sheba meet passion overcomes politics. Theirs is a physical love that will last 3 nights and two days, but emotionally forever.
