She is an attractive woman who knows how to stand up for herself and is a respected winegrower in her own right. Together with her husband Arnould, the owner of the Château Valliran in Saint-Emilion, they have created a successful business. She takes care of the grapes and the winemaking, and he sells their wine all around the world. And they also have two teenage children. Paloma, who is environmentally aware and conscious of the challenges of a global marketplace, has persuaded Arnould to make the transition to biodynamic agriculture: weeding by hand, working without
chemicals, organising operations differently and selling at a higher price via shorter circuits. But Arnould, who keeps the books, becomes more and more anxious and taciturn, and is increasingly absent from the vineyard. Tensions in their relationship grow, exacerbated by their son misbehaving at school and their daughter getting herself into dangerous situations. And then Paloma finds out that there is another woman in Arnould’s life: an oenology consultant who is determined to get her own way.
