However, the Justice of the Peace of Saint Alban, who is also a wolf lieutenant, questions this strange death. Assisted by a nurse from the asylum, he uncovers a series of inconsistencies and disturbing clues. The still fresh trail will lead him to the neighboring canton, where he will unearth other mysteries, older and darker, which clearly involve the local notables. A recurring pattern seems to emerge behind dramas that were perhaps too quickly attributed to the fatalities of the time. To solve the riddle, the solitary Judge will have to surround himself with an eclectic team and question his certainties, even if it means lowering his own guard. But at what cost?
