Risking legal proceedings, he had to give them back to Lucienne Destouches, Céline’s widow who died in 2017 at 107.
Since then, Gallimard – Céline’s last publisher – successfully published three of his post-mortem novels. Now the case publicly known, the author – also Thibaudat’s advocate – narrates the whole affair thoroughly, since Céline fled Paris in Summer 1944.
