There are torrents of mud, the rivers overflow, towns and cities are drowned and survivors seek refuge at the tops of buildings. Up in the mountains, Simon and his family watch as the water levels rise inexorably and ultimately find safety in the attic of their farmhouse; all around them is a vast expanse of water that is continuing to rise. When a semblance of calm finally seems to return, Simon sets out on a fragile dinghy in search of help – and of what remains of civilisation...
